Gutter Cleaning Costs in Kitchener (2026)

Planning ranges for gutter cleaning in Kitchener in 2026, and why a Stanley Park side-split under a maple costs more than a bigger, newer house in Doon South with nothing over it.

What follows are planning ranges, not prices. They are what the work commonly comes to on Kitchener houses, so you can judge a quote. The number for your house is written after someone has looked at it or at clear photos, because what is inside the downspouts is not visible from the street and is where the time goes.

Planning ranges

  • Eavestrough cleaning, bungalow or single-storey: roughly $150–$300, with every downspout flushed and tested and the debris bagged.
  • Eavestrough cleaning, two-storey or split-level: roughly $250–$450. A packed late-November trough under a Stanley Park maple, steep gables and sloped ground push to the top and occasionally past it.
  • Downspout clearing alone: roughly $60–$120 per blocked downspout when the troughs do not need a clean; less per unit within a clean. Opening an elbow is included; replacing an ice-split elbow is a small repair on top.
  • Leaf guards on existing eavestrough: roughly $10–$30 per linear foot installed, screen at the bottom of the range and micro-mesh at the top. A two-storey has perhaps 120 to 180 feet of trough; guarding one run under the tree is a fraction of that.
  • Reseal and re-hang repairs: roughly $100–$350 for a visit's worth, done with a clean. One resealed corner sits at the bottom; swapping a whole side's spikes for hidden hangers sits at the top.
  • Fall and spring programs: per-visit pricing at a modest discount to a one-off, so a two-visit program on a two-storey commonly lands around $450–$800 a year and a fall-only program around $150–$400.

All of that assumes conventional residential eavestroughs reachable from a ladder. Low-rise commercial, anything needing a lift, and roofs that cannot be worked from a ladder are quoted after a look.

What moves the price

  • Height and roof shape. The largest factor. A two-storey or a split with eaves at six metres and gables higher is slower work done to fall-protection rules; a bungalow is reached from a short ladder all the way round.
  • Canopy. Whether the troughs hold a dusting of grit or a bucket every few feet. The City's leaf collection zone map is a fair predictor of which.
  • Downspouts. How many, and whether they run or are packed at both elbows. Underground connections that need testing add time.
  • Ground under the ladder. Slopes, window wells, decks, air conditioners and hedges each need the ladder set differently.
  • Moss. Found on north-facing troughs near the Grand; it is scraped, not flushed.
  • Existing guards. Clip-on guards add a little time; glued or riveted inserts add more and may limit what can be done.

What a quote should say

How many downspouts are included and that each is flushed and tested; where the debris goes; whether minor repairs are included or quoted separately; and that photos follow. A single number over the phone for a house nobody has seen is a guess that gets corrected on the day.

Not on this page

Eavestrough replacement, new installation, and fascia and soffit work. Those are an installer's quotes, and this site does not give them. If your gutters are past cleaning, you will be told so and left to get that quote elsewhere.

Frequently asked questions

Why is my two-storey quoted higher than a bigger bungalow down the street?

Height. Eaves at six metres mean every ladder move is slow and the crew works to fall-protection rules; a bungalow is a short ladder all the way round. Linear feet of trough matters less than people expect.

Is a spring clean cheaper than a fall clean?

Slightly, because the troughs carry less and the calendar is quieter. On a canopy street it does not replace the fall clean, which is the one that prevents ice. On a light street spring can be the one visit a year.

Is there a charge for a blocked downspout?

Flushing and testing every downspout is part of every clean, and rodding or opening a packed elbow is normally included. The exception is a downspout that has to come apart along its length or be replaced after ice has split it, which is a small repair and is said before it is done.

Do you charge for a quote?

No. Most houses are quoted from a quick visit or from clear photos of each side and the ground under the eaves. What you will not get is a firm number for a house nobody has looked at.

Does the stormwater credit offset the cost?

Not directly. The City's credit reduces the stormwater portion of your utility bill once an approved rain barrel, cistern or other measure is in place; it is not a rebate on gutter work. A barrel diverter can be fitted during a visit; the application is yours and the approval is the City's.

Is HST included in the ranges?

No. Quotes show the price and HST separately, so the figures here are before tax, like every other trade.
